2008 National Family Law Program

20th Anniversary Program
DEERHURST RESORT AND CONFERENCE CENTRE
MUSKOKA, ONTARIO
July 14-17, 2008

(On Site Conference Office Opens July 13)

General Information

The program owes the ongoing success largely to the generous contribution of volunteer lawyers, academics and judges from across Canada and special guests from outside Canada. Through their hard work and dedication, the programs provide valuable education and up-to-date reference materials for the profession and the judiciary on an entirely self-funded basis.

Set just north of Canada's largest city, the Muskoka region has been a magnet for visitors for well over a century. It's more than 1,600 lakes, unspoiled wilderness and laid-back attitude makes it an ideal place for a retreat. More recently, Muskoka's casual charms have been enhanced by excellent golf courses, soothing spas, and top-notch restaurants. While the region is at its most popular in summer, when Hollywood and hockey stars lounge at their lakefront "cottages," this is an enticing destination to visit at any time of the year.

Look at any map of the region and you'll soon notice a large shaded area. That's Algonquin Park, one of the most naturally beautiful places on earth. Deerhurst Resort sits just off the southwest corner of the 7,700 sq. km. wilderness preserve, making it an ideal daytrip for sightseeing as well as guided hiking, biking and canoe trips arranged through the resort.

You are advised to make early travel and accommodation arrangements. The summer is a busy tourist time in the area. Registrants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation arrangements. Special rates have been negotiated at the Deerhurst Resort & Conference Centre. The earlier you book the greater chance of the opportunity to reserve an upgraded room for the same price. For reservations please telephone the resort directly at 1-800- 461-4393 and request the Federation of Law Societies group rate. Information about the resort and surrounding area is available on their website www.deerhurstresort.com and will also be posted on the Federation website.
