Council Member representing the Law Society of ManitobaJeff Hirsch was appointed a Council member by the Law Society of Manitoba in May 2009. He is a partner with Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP in Winnipeg, practising in the areas of commercial litigation, insolvency and aboriginal and administrative law, with an emphasis on professional regulation. He graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations in 1984, and earned his Bachelor of Laws in 1986. Jeff was called to the Bar of Manitoba in 1987. Jeff was first elected as a Bencher in 2002, served as President of the Law Society of Manitoba in 2009-10 and is currently Past President. Jeff served as Chair of the law society’s Special Committee on the Independence of the Legal Profession, and has chaired the society’s Complaints Investigation, Discipline, Nominating and Equity Committees. He is the society's representative for the civil litigation rules on the Court of Queen's Bench Statutory Rules Committee. Jeff is also a sessional lecturer in Remedies at the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba. Jeff Hirsch
