Vice President and President-elect 2011-2012
Bâtonnier Gérald Tremblay was appointed a Council member by the Barreau du Québec in November 2003. He is a partner in the firm McCarthy Tétrault LLP in Montreal, and practices in the areas of civil, corporate, commercial and environmental law, as well as class actions, constitutional and administrative law litigation. He received his BA in 1964 from the Université Laval (Québec), and graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Laws in 1967.
Gérald clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada and was called to the Barreau du Québec in 1968. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in December 1987. Gérald became a member of the Order of Canada in December 2003, and an Officer of the National Order of Québec in June 2005. He served as Batonnier of the Barreau du Quebec for the 2008-2009 term.
